17/08/12 - The AU Review review The Vanguard Zombie Week Show!!!
“Given that it was Zombie Week at the Vanguard, all the bands for the evening were dressing up accordingly. It was Super Best Friends, however, who had perhaps the funniest get-up of the lot: the trio donned the outfits of their defunct basketball team, the Canberra Cannons, all the while wearing full zombie make-up to add to the full deadness of their characters.
Bassist Matt Roberts was especially dedicated to his persona, doing the best zombie walk his lanky frame would allow across the extended stage. It was this extra flavour that drew the audience in, but it was the band’s propulsive and charging batch of guitar and synth-driven tunes that kept them there. The closest comparison point would be Future of the Left for those of you playing at home, but even they don’t quite cover it. There’s a lot going on here – perhaps too much to take in a single serving – but you’re in for a healthy dose of fun with this lot.” - David Young, The AU Review
